A Career in Touring
Mark Oglesby’s path in the music industry is truly remarkable. He started with the Clark Family Experience and eventually landed a gig with One Republic. He recalls a memorable moment in 2009, performing in front of 86,000 people while supporting U2 in Vienna, Austria. “It’s not normal,” he says, reflecting on his transition from dreaming of being around musicians to living that reality.
Joining Post Malone’s Tour
Recently, Mark decided to join Post Malone on one of the biggest tours worldwide. Having worked with artists like Pink and Lady A, he was considering slowing down to spend more time with family. However, when his friend Angie Warner called, he couldn’t resist. Despite the demands of managing a tour for a superstar, Mark couldn’t pass up the chance, especially with Angie understanding his family-first values.
Family Life and Sobriety
Family is at the center of Mark's world. Celebrating 20 years of marriage and being a dad to an eight-year-old, he emphasizes prioritizing family time. Mark credits his sobriety journey as a crucial turning point. “Getting sober on tour was the most difficult challenge I have ever endured,” he shares. Achieving sobriety before becoming a parent allowed him to be present for his family without attributing his sobriety to them.
The Magic of Live Music
Mark’s passion for live music and the joy it brings to audiences is clear. He describes walking the floor during shows, witnessing the excitement and escape music offers, especially to children. “Music’s a drug,” he acknowledges, highlighting the powerful connection people have with live performances.
Staying Active
Mark’s love for running and staying active is vital to his lifestyle. Whether it’s running 40,000 steps a day during a stadium setup or keeping fit on tour, Mark believes in staying active to remain grounded and manage his career's demands.
Looking Ahead
Mark Oglesby’s journey in the music industry exemplifies balancing a high-energy career with personal values. His dedication to family, sobriety, and live music makes him a true inspiration. Mark reminds us that while the music industry can be a whirlwind, it's the connections we make and the values we uphold that truly define our success.
